I'm thrilled to begin another exciting year as your 4th Grade Science and Social Science teacher at Garvy Elementary! Teaching is my passion, and I can't wait to explore new ideas and discoveries with you.

This summer, my family and our best friends revisited the Four Corners Region-hiking through breathtaking landscapes and soaking up beauty of Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. We loved reconnecting with nature and each other while exploring trails and sandstone formations that reminded us how amazing our world truly is.

What inspires me to be your teacher? I can also summarize in one word: YOU.

In our classroom, we learn, grow, and support one another every day. Here's what I expect from my crew:

With your enthusiasm and your family's support, we'll achieve our learning goals and make this a year to remember. And yes-I was a 4th grader once, too! I know how exciting this adventure can be.

What will Science look like this year?

I will be using Amplify as our Science curriculum. You as a student will need to be able to access the material through a Clever account using your CPS credentials.

I will be expecting you to attend our class daily and being attentive, responsive, reflective and creative. Your role as a scientist is to reflect, chat, investigate, synthesize (make connections), and evaluate on what we are learning. With these practices as a scientist, you will get a better understanding of the world around you using the 4th Grade Scientific Core Ideas and Concepts.

What will Social Studies look like this year?

I will be covering Social Science. You will explore the geography, history, development, government and diversity of Illinois and our nation. Your role as a young citizen is to learn about the ideas of both past and present, reflect on other peoples' or your classmates thoughts, and learn from each other. We will be celebrating each other and our families in our own classroom family through storytelling.
