Paws Pillars and Spotlight Skills
At John W. Garvy, we believe in nurturing the whole child. To support our students' growth into well-rounded, responsible, and empathetic individuals, we utilize the PAWS Pillars framework. This program focuses on four core pillars, each highlighting specific Spotlight Skills designed to foster social-emotional growth, academic resilience, and strong community values:
-
P – BE KIND (Social Skills): We emphasize the importance of Cooperation and Respect in building positive relationships with peers and staff.
-
A – BE STRONG (Executive Functioning): We teach our students to take Responsibility for their actions and learning, and to show Perseverance when facing challenges.
-
W – BE WELL (Emotional Regulation): We support mental and emotional well-being by encouraging Gratitude and cultivating Creativity.
-
S – BE A BULLDOG (Community Citizenship): We model what it means to be a true Bulldog by practicing Integrity and championing Inclusivity within our school family.
Together, these pillars provide the foundation for our students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. We invite you to partner with us by discussing and reinforcing these PAWS values at home!
