Hello and Welcome to First Grade – Room 101!

I want to start by introducing myself and sharing how excited I am to begin my 14th year of teaching at Garvy and my 23rd year of teaching!

I began my teaching career as a second-grade teacher at St. Juliana School on the northwest side of Chicago. After teaching there for one year, I decided to continue my career in Chicago Public Schools. I began my CPS journey at George B. Armstrong International Studies School in Rogers Park.

During my time at Armstrong, I worked toward an English as a Second Language endorsement and earned my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University. As a first-grade teacher, I achieved National Board Certification in November 2010 and renewed my certification in 2019.

I truly believe that learning is a lifelong process, and I look forward to continuing to grow and learn throughout my time at Garvy.

First grade is such a fun and rewarding year! Your child will grow in so many ways—both academically and socially. I am so thrilled to be part of this special experience with you and your child.
