Parent Volunteer Process
Level I & Level II Volunteer Application Process: All individuals who are interested in volunteering (includes chaperoning field trips) must be approved by CPS. Depending on the level of volunteering you plan to do, you will be asked to complete an application for either a “Level I” or “Level II” volunteer.
- Level I (Advanced): Best for mentors, tutors, coaches, unsupervised classroom assistants, and overnight field trip chaperones. In order to become a Level I volunteer, you must complete the volunteer form for CPS, provide fingerprints, get a background check and take a TB test.
- Level II (Basic): Best for day field trips, general school events, or volunteering under 10 hours a week where you remain in the line of sight of a full-time employee. Requires you to complete the volunteer form for CPS and submit your ID for verification.

The beginning of the new school year is here! I am so excited to see all the Garvy Bulldogs back in the halls on Monday, August 24th at 8:30am. This week, all staff members return to work for a week of professional development and preparation for the return of our students. During this week, parents will receive a welcome message from your child's teacher(s).
Please review the following notes for a successful start to the school year:
Supply Drop Off
The annual school Supply Drop off is scheduled for Thursday, August 20th from 9am to 10:30am. We look forward to welcoming all of you to the new school year. If you ordered the supply kit through the PTA , they were delivered to the homeroom of your child. If not, you can find a link to this year's school supply lists on the Garvy website under the Parents Tab.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Students will line up at 8:15 at the following door locations. For the younger grades, K-4, look for the classroom flags/cones to indicate where to line up. Please note that there is no adult supervision prior to 8:15am.

If a student arrives at school later than 8:32 A.M., they are to report to Door 7 to receive a tardy pass before reporting to class.
Dismissal: Students in grades K-4 must be picked up by an adult or older sibling. If a child is not picked up in a timely manner, the student will be taken to the round table by the Main Office to await pick up.
Homeroom Assignments
Last week, you should have received an email with your child(ren)'s homeroom assignments for the upcoming year. As a reminder, all placement decisions are now final. Our team put a tremendous amount of care and thoughtful consideration into building balanced classrooms that support every child's growth, strengths, and unique personality. We are so excited about the learning environments we've created and can't wait to welcome our students back! Thank you for your partnership and understanding.
School Fees
A school fee will be collected from each student to purchase consumable materials (ex. workbooks, magazines, science supplies, digital platforms, etc.). Parents are asked to submit payment by August 28th. Please submit payment via Aspen Parent Portal. The fee does not cover the expense of field trips, lost or damaged books, or typical school supplies.

Safety Notice: E-Bikes and Electric Scooters
To ensure the safety of all students, staff, and families during busy arrival and dismissal times, e-bikes and electric scooters are not permitted on school grounds. Due to safety concerns regarding speed, acceleration, and heavy foot traffic, these motorized devices may not be ridden, parked, or stored on campus. Standard, human-powered bicycles and scooters are still welcome when walked on school walkways. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe!
