                          | Additional Notes  NEW: Volunteer services will send parents an email with instructions about a required CPS volunteer training. This is a new step required after being approved at the school level.
Level I & Level II Volunteer Application Process: All individuals who are interested in volunteering (includes chaperoning field trips) must be approved by CPS. Depending on the level of volunteering you plan to do, you will be asked to complete an application for either a “Level I” or “Level II” volunteer.
Steps to follow:(Please note: It is a CPS requirement that you fall into one of these two levels to become a volunteer)

Step 1: Complete THIS volunteer form for CPS
This form is necessary for CPS to verify you have students in the system and that they attend the school you are requesting to volunteer at.

Step 2: Bring a government issued ID to the main office for verification. If you do not do this step, the process will not move forward.

For Level 2, once you submit your ID, you will receive further instructions from the CPS volunteer office via email.  For Level 1, you must also do the following: Step 3: After you submit your ID, you will receive an email from CPS which will contain links and information for fingerprinting, background check and TB test. For fingerprinting, please fill out this form and take it to any Accurate Biometrics location. For the TB test, use this form. These tests can be completed at MercyWorks locations. Please note, there is a $20 TB test fee.
Step 4: Email copies of both the fingerprints and TB test to [email protected]. The sooner they receive these forms, the faster your application can be processed. Please note, fingerprints can take 2-5 weeks to process.

Happy Sunday Garvy!Be Kind 🐾  Be Strong 🐾  Be Well 🐾  Be a Bulldog     October is National Bullying Prevention Month. During this month, in particular, our school community focuses on kindness, inclusion, and respect for ALL. This month is a crucial reminder that every student has the right to feel safe, seen, and valued at school. By raising awareness, we are empowering students to speak out against mistreatment, support their classmates, and contribute to a positive environment where everyone's differences are respected.

Fall OST ProgramsFall OST Programs begin this week and will run from October 6 - December 12 (10 weeks). All programs take place from 3:30-4:30 unless otherwise noted. You should have received confirmation via email for the programs your child has been registered in. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cavanaugh, the OST Coordinator.
Walk and Roll to School Day The 2025 National Walk or Bike to School Day is this Wednesday, October 8th.  Walking to school can have many benefits for children, including helping them meet physical activity requirements and leading to longer, healthier lives. Hope to see you walking or riding to school this week.
Medical ComplianceProof of physical examinations and/or required immunizations are due no later than October 15th, 2025 for the following grades: Kindergarten, 6th grade, and any students entering CPS for the first time.
Erin's Law PresentationOn January 24, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a law, Erin’s Law, into effect for all Illinois schools. Erin’s Law requires schools to provide age-appropriate sexual abuse prevention education for all students on an annual basis. The Office of Student Protections and Title IX has collaborated across a number of departments to create developmentally appropriate sessions that will allow students to identify abuse and empower them to report any wrong doing that may have occurred. The sessions have been broken down by grade, and are all around 30-45 minutes.  All training will be conducted in homeroom prior to Thanksgiving break.
The Office of Student Protections and Title IX  Student Training covers the following five learning objectives using  developmentally appropriate language:
Students will understand CPS Title IX Policy and Discrimination StatementStudents will know who the Title IX Coordinator is, what OSP does, and how to get in touch with OSPStudents will understand what constitutes sexual harassment and bias-based harmStudents will be aware of the resources available to students who report sexual harassment, retaliation, or bias-based harm, including supportive measures pending an investigationStudents will know what to do if they believe they or other students have been subjected to sexual harassment and bias-based harm
This is an important learning opportunity for students. However, a parent or guardian may opt their child out of the training if they do not wish for them to participate.  The opt-out form will be good for the current school year only.  If you choose to opt your child out, please complete this google form. If you wish to teach your child this material yourself, you can access the videos to the sessions on the OSP website at www.cps.edu/osp.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESPOND TO THIS FORM UNLESS YOU ARE OPTING-OUT YOUR CHILD FROM THIS PRESENTATION.
