Level I & Level II Volunteer Application Process: All individuals who are interested in volunteering (includes chaperoning field trips) must be approved by CPS. Depending on the level of volunteering you plan to do, you will be asked to complete an application for either a “Level I” or “Level II” volunteer.
Level I- The newest tier to volunteering. In order to become a Level I volunteer, you must complete the volunteer form for CPS, provide fingerprints, get a background check and take a TB test.
NEW: Volunteer services will send parents an email with instructions about a required CPS volunteer training. This is a new step required after being approved at the school level.

Honoring Our Staff
This week, we celebrate the heart and soul of our school: our incredible teachers and staff. Our teachers aren't just instructors—they are mentors, cheerleaders, and innovators who shape the future every single day.
Our teachers and staff do so much more than just teach from a book. They make school feel like a second home where every student feels safe and they help students build the confidence they need to succeed. They work extremely hard to make sure no one is left behind, teaching important life lessons like kindness, perseverance, and how to solve problems.
This week and every week, I thank you for your passion, your resilience, and your dedication. We are so lucky to have all of you!
The annual Adopt-a- Classroom Walk-a-Thon is Friday, May 8th. Parents and family members are welcome to attend but must remain on the turf so as to not disturb our students who will be walking the track and the outside perimeter of the school. Below is a link to the Walk-a-Thon schedule. Special thanks to the AAC committee for all the hard work you put into this event each year. Also, thank you to the PTA for providing Kona Ice treats for the students following the event.
We have begun planning for the next school year. We know that families sometimes move out of the Garvy attendance area during the school year, or are planning to move over the summer. Please complete the information below by Friday, May 22nd. (Please complete one form for each student you have at Garvy) If your child is not attending a Chicago Public School in the fall, a transfer will be issued to the student on the last day of the school year.
