Arrival & Dismissal: Remember that it is all of our jobs to keep our school community safe. Due to the size of our student population, arrival and dismissal times can be a challenge.
Be mindful that there are children everywhere. Please set the proper example of community, cooperation, and safety precautions for our children.

Thank you to all the PTA and all the parents who donated treats to "Load the Lounge" and to those who helped serve the staff a yummy lunch in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. We all felt so loved and appreciated.
Thank you to the Adopt-a-Classroom Committee for all the hard work that went into planning and organizing our annual Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser. We had a beautiful day and the kids had a wonderful time. Special thanks to all the parents who volunteered at the corners to keep our students safe as well as at the Kona Ice truck.

Norwood Park Memorial Day Parade
We hope you can come and join us at the family event for the Memorial Day Parade on May27th. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. The event begins at 11. Please arrive before that time, so you can enjoy walking with us in the Parade. See you then!

Kindergarten Registration Week
 If you have an incoming Kindergarten student for school year 2024-2025, Spring registration is the week of May 13-17th. New this year: To be more efficient and honor everyone's time, Mrs. Crespo and Mrs. Perez have created appointment slots for you to choose a time to come to register your child. 9:15-1:55 (click for an appointment)
Intent to Return to Garvy
We have begun planning for the next school year. We know that families sometimes move out of the Garvy attendance area during the school year, or are planning to move over the summer. Please complete the information below by Friday, May 24, 2024. (Please complete one form for each student you have at Garvy) If you child is not attending a Chicago Public School in the fall, a transfer will be issued to the student on the last day of the school year. Senior Sign Off Day
As we approach the end of the school year, we are starting a new tradition. We are in search of Garvy alumni who are graduating from high school this year to come back and speak with
our graduating 8th graders. We look forward to the seniors sharing their high school experiences. If you have or know of a Garvy alum who is a graduating from high school this spring, please share their names with Ms. Stanis, our school counselor, via email [email protected].

Parent's Night Out: PTA has organized a Parents Night Out event! This is an opportunity for parents to mingle, meet some of your child's friend's parents, and maybe even organize some hang outs for the summer! Come mingle at Emerald Isle in Edison Park on Friday, May 17th anytime from 630-930pm. The Parents Night Out Committee is offering a raffle prize for the first 15 Garvy Parents who come!

Ice Cream Chase 5k
This year's ICC5k is Saturday, June 1st in Chicago. We invite you to join us for the in-person 5k followed by a celebratory scoop of ice cream! Can’t make it in-person this year? You can still support us by registering for our virtual option.
