Happy Sunday Garvy!

Tunes on the Turf

Our annual Winter Concert, Tunes on the Turf, is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th at 9am outside on the Garvy Turf. During this honored school tradition, Ms. Correa, our Music Teacher, directs the students as they sing and/or play a tune. Our parents are invited come and listen and sip hot cocoa on the turf.
- Performance Date: Tuesday, December 16th
- Time: 9am
- Location: Garvy Turf
- Grades Participating: Kindergarten, 4th, 6th and 7th only
If your child’s grade level is not listed above, they will not be performing at Tunes on the Turf. Grades 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8 will perform at our Spring Sing in May.
We are kindly asking for donations of boxes of hot cocoa, candy canes, and marshmallows. If you are able to donate any of the above named items, you can send with your child or simply drop by the main office.
Thank you in advance!
Our daily schedule includes approximately 25 minutes of recess for all students in grades K-8. We will continue to venture outside, weather permitting, so we are asking that students be prepared for the winter elements by wearing boots, hats, gloves, and scarves to brave the weather.
We monitor the weather and will send students out if temperature and wind chill (feels like temps) are 17 degrees and higher. It is highly recommended that younger students (Grades K-1) have a change of clothes available in their lockers. If you have not sent clothes to school, please do so.
OST Announcements
The Fall OST session ends this week.
The Winter/Spring session starts in February. The list of programs and the sign up process will be shared in the January.
Quarter 2 AtTENdance Challenge
Strong attendance is the first step toward success. Regular attendance is crucial throughout a student’s academic journey. Chronic absenteeism means a student is missing too much school—about 10% or more of the school year—which can seriously affect their learning and success. 10% of the school year equates to around 18 days, or one day every two weeks.
There are 177 days in this school year. It is our goal to lower the number of students who are labeled chronically absent. Therefore, each student should aim to miss less than 17 days this school year. That equates to about 1-2 days per month.
The Quarter 2 AtTENdance challenge is an individual challenge from Monday, December 1st to Friday the 12th. For these 10 school days, we want all students to be in attendance. Each individual student with 95% or better attendance will be invited to a special celebration.
Remember our goal is Awesome Attendance, not Perfect Attendance.
The Adopt-a-Classroom Committee Winter Gift Card sale is accepting orders until Monday, December 8th. Please consider purchasing your holiday gift cards with AAC and the purchases benefits Garvy School.
We would like to invite parents to attend the BAC (Bilingual Advisory Committee) meeting this Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 at 8:45 a.m. in Room 208A.
We want to reflect on celebrations of the successful International Night event and start preparations for next year, and also discuss the strategies to get ready for ACCESS testing."
