Happy Sunday Garvy!
AAC Walk-a-Thon
The annual Garvy Walk-a-Thon is on Friday, May 10th.
- ATTENTION: Walk-a-Thon volunteers are needed. If you are available to assist, please choose a timeframe using the following link: WAT Sign up Genius
- AAC would love to see the local businesses that we support turn around and support us. Our annual Walk-A-Thon is a great way for your business to show its support of Garvy School’s Adopt-A-Classroom Committee. AAC Business Donation Letter
Fine Arts Night
The return of Fine Arts night was a wonderful success! Thank you to all the families who came out. We had quite a large crowd. Shout out to the 1st grade, the 5th grade, and the Band for Today student performers. I was so impressed!! I could not stop smiling. Thank you so much to the Fine Arts Night committee and all the adults who volunteered.
Earth Day
Thank you so much to Ms. Martin, the Garden Club, and the Garvy Girl Scouts for organizing the clean up work on Earth Day to beautify our campus. It was great to see our school community come together again to accomplish a common goal. More exciting additions to come.
Local School Council
Thank you to the current LSC for your unwavering support. On Thursday, during the Special LSC Meeting, I presented the CIWP adjustments for school year 25, we passed the FY25 School Budget, and we voted (due to budget constraints) to raise the school fee for next year. Please join us for the last regularly scheduled meeting of the year on Wednesday, May 15th at 5pm in the Music Room.
The newly elected LSC will start their two-year term on July 1st.
Sidewalk Repair
I recently shared the detailed proposal created by Mr. Szymczak, a parent LSC representative, to have the sidewalks surrounding Garvy be repaired. We received an email from Alderman Napolitano's office last week. They have made the Board of Education aware of the needed repairs. My engineer, Mr. Quillen and I will continue to work with CPS Facilities to have the sidewalks repaired during the summer break.
CPS My Voice, My School
The 2024 My Voice, My School Parent/Guardian Survey is open through April 30, 2024 and can be accessed online at cps.edu/parentsurvey. This annual survey is an excellent opportunity to give us your feedback on where your school is succeeding and where there is room for improvement. The survey is completely anonymous, available in several languages, and takes about 5–10 minutes to complete. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
Senior Sign Off Day
As we approach the end of the school year, we are starting a new tradition. We are in search of Garvy alumni who are graduating from high school this year to come back and speak with
our graduating 8th graders. We look forward to the seniors sharing their high school experiences. If you have or know of a Garvy alum who is a graduating from high school this spring, please share their names with Ms. Stanis, our school counselor, via email [email protected].
