Depending on the level of volunteering you plan to do, you will be asked to complete an application for either a “Level I” or “Level II” volunteer.
Level I- The newest tier to volunteering. In order to become a Level I volunteer, you must complete the volunteer form for CPS, provide fingerprints, get a background check and take a TB test.
NEW: Volunteer services will send parents an email with instructions about a required CPS volunteer training. This is a new step required after being approved at the school level.

Q4 Progress Reports
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, 4th Quarter Progress Reports are now available for viewing. These reports offer a vital snapshot of your student’s current standing and serve as a roadmap for a strong finish. This is the perfect time to celebrate the progress made since August and to identify any remaining goals before summer break.
If you have questions regarding your student’s progress, please don't hesitate to reach out to their teachers. Let’s work together to ensure every student finishes the year with confidence and pride!
Q4 AtTENdance Challenge
Strong attendance is the first step toward success. Regular attendance is crucial throughout a student’s academic journey. Chronic absenteeism means a student is missing too much school—about 10% or more of the school year—which can seriously affect their learning and success. There are 177 days in this school year. It is our goal to lower the number of students who are labeled chronically absent. Therefore, each student should aim to miss less than 17 days this school year. That equates to about 1-2 days per month.
For elementary students, missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
The Quarter 4 AtTENdance challenge starts tomorrow from Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 8th. For these 10 school days, we want all students to be in attendance. The individual students with 95% or better attendance will be invited to a special celebration that includes Books, Buddies, and Beverages.
2026 AAC Walk-a-thon
The annual Adopt-a- Classroom Walk-a-Thon is Friday, May 8th. Parents and family members are welcome to attend but must remain on the turf so as to not disturb our students who will be walking the track and the outside perimeter of the school. Below is a link to the Walk-a-Thon schedule. Special thanks to the AAC committee for all the hard work you put into this event each year. Also, thank you to the PTA for providing Kona Ice treats for the students following the event.
The Principal's Student Advisory Board (PAB) is a student leadership organization that consists of students from grades 5-8th, who work together to discuss topics that affect our overall school community. The PAB meets with Principal Bester at least 6 times during the school year to discuss and make informed decisions regarding the well-being of the student body and the school community.
Mrs. Bester is seeking up to 12 students to join the PAB. The LSC Student Representative is an automatic member. This is a one year commitment (Spring to Spring).
If you are currently a student in grades 4-7 and would like to make positive additions to our school environment, please complete this application by Friday, May 15th.
STEM Night
There were brains in the gym, a Komodo dragon in the MPR, and worms in a cup. These are a few of the highlights from the amazing STEM night last week. Special thanks to the STEM committee, the teacher and student volunteers, and to all those who attended this event. Wonderful time! Go Bulldogs!
Career Fair
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who shared their time and professional expertise at our Career Fair. Your willingness to engage with our students and provide them with real-world insights into various educational and career pathways is truly invaluable. By sharing your passion and journey, you have not only sparked their curiosity but also helped them envision a brighter future. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated community of Bulldogs supporting our students' growth and success.
