OT Tip of the week:

Environment can be everything! Our students are used to completing school work in their classroom, but given the current situation how can you help the environment at home support completing school work? Finding a spot that will help your kiddo learn and engage in school work can be as unique as their fingerprints. As you find a routine for completing school work, here are some questions to ask as you pick the best spot for remote learning:

  • Does your child work best in absolute silence or do they need some background noise?
  • Can they be in front of a window or will that be too distracting to them?
  • Do they like to sit or do they work best while standing?
  • Are they able to focus better first thing in the morning, afternoon or evening?
  • Does your child need breaks between tasks or more breaks during one subject than others?

Having materials nearby is important too! Make sure to have writing tools, crayons or devices charged and available and ready to use. Students who feel comfortable in sharing their workspace can send a picture to Ms. Rojas OT [email protected] to share on the Garvy website!
