A Little About Me!

Welcome to 6th grade!

I will be teaching all the 6th grade math classes this 2023-2024 school year. We will be using a new curriculum this year called Illustrative Mathematics. With this curriculum and other activities, all students will have the opportunity to be prepared for 7^th grade by the end of the year.

I have a earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have middle school endorsements in mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, and English as a second language.

I taught in various suburbs for 5 years and am starting my 19th year here at Garvy School. At Garvy, I have taught in grades 4th through 7th but have taught 7th grade for the several years. This is my sixth year in the sixth grade. Also, having taught 7^th grade and knowing the curriculum so well, I understand where my 6^th students will need to be by the end of the year to be successful in 7^th grade!

In my free time, I love spending time with my family. I have a husband and two sons. I enjoy watching movies and reading when I have time. Also, I have a puppy who turns one in October who I love to take on walks and hang out with.  This is going to be an exciting year!
