2. Review and Respond to Offers
Families should carefully review all offers and follow the instructions in their GoCPS account.
CPS will publish the offer acceptance deadline and additional spring selection dates as the application cycle progresses.
3. Rolling Waitlists
After the initial offer process, GoCPS uses rolling waitlists to fill seats that become available.
Students may remain eligible for waitlists based on the programs they applied to, their rankings, and the type of offer they received.

GoCPS Selection Process
The GoCPS selection process is designed to match students with the highest-ranked program for which they qualify and where a seat is available.
Choice and Selective Enrollment programs use separate selection processes.
Choice Program Selection Process
Choice programs may use either a computerized lottery or a points-based selection process.
Lottery Selections
Lottery-based programs may consider:
The student’s randomly assigned lottery number
The number of available seats
The student’s program rankings
Any priority groups used by the program
The number of available seats
The student’s program rankings
Any priority groups used by the program
Priority groups may include sibling, staff, proximity, tier, or general applicants. Not every program uses every priority.

Points-Based Selections
Points-based Choice programs consider factors established for the individual program, which may include:
The student’s total admissions points
Available seats
Program rankings
Program-specific priorities or geographic considerations
Available seats
Program rankings
Program-specific priorities or geographic considerations
Eligible students are generally placed in descending point order. If students have the same point total for the final available seat, a tie-breaker is used according to that program’s published selection rules.
Selective Enrollment Selection Process
Selective Enrollment applicants are placed in descending point order based on the current CPS scoring system.
The first 30% of available seats are offered to the highest-scoring applicants citywide, regardless of tier. The remaining 70% of seats are distributed equally among the four CPS tiers and offered to the highest-scoring applicants within each tier.
Students can receive up to one Selective Enrollment offer.

Ranking Programs
Students should rank programs in their true order of preference. Ranking a program higher does not increase a student’s admissions score or make the student more likely to qualify for that program.

Tie-Breakers
Tie-breakers are used when students have the same point total and there are not enough available seats for every student with that score.
The tie-breaker process depends on the type of program. CPS publishes the selection and tie-breaker rules used for points-based programs.
