ACCEPTING & DECLINING OFFERS / WAITLISTS
Accepting Offers
When initial GoCPS results are released, families who submitted an application will receive notification that their results are available in their GoCPS account.
Initial high school offers for the 2027–28 school year will be released February 12, 2027.
If a student receives a Choice or Selective Enrollment offer, the family must accept the offer through their GoCPS account by the posted Offer Acceptance Deadline.
CPS has not yet announced the 2027–28 Offer Acceptance Deadline.
How It Works
-
- Families will have approximately three weeks after initial offers are released to make their decision.
- Only one high school offer may be accepted.
- Accepting a new offer automatically declines any other open or previously accepted offer.
- Families may change their decision during the initial offer-acceptance window by updating their selection in GoCPS.
- If an offer is not accepted by the deadline, it will expire.
- After the Offer Acceptance Deadline, a previously accepted offer may still be declined, but that decision cannot be reversed.
- Declined or expired offers are not automatically restored.
Accepting a Choice Offer
Accepting a Choice offer does not remove a student from the waitlists of higher-ranked Choice programs. If a student later receives an offer from a preferred Choice program, the family may choose to accept the new offer instead.
Accepting a Selective Enrollment Offer
Students who accept a Selective Enrollment High School offer will be removed from the waitlists of other Selective Enrollment programs.
Students may still remain on eligible Choice program waitlists.

Rolling Waitlist
The GoCPS Rolling Waitlist process begins in the spring after the initial Offer Acceptance Deadline.
Rolling waitlists provide additional opportunities for students to receive an offer if seats become available. Students who did not apply during the fall application window may also apply to available programs during the rolling waitlist period.
Waitlist offers are only made when a program has an available seat, so placement on a waitlist does not guarantee an offer.
How It Works
-
- Families manage waitlists and waitlist offers through their GoCPS account.
- Students may withdraw from a waitlist if they no longer want to be considered.
- If a student withdraws and later rejoins, their previous waitlist position will not be restored.
- Accepting a new waitlist offer automatically declines a previously accepted offer.
- Families should keep their contact information in GoCPS current so they receive notifications about available offers.
Choice Program Waitlists
-
-
- Students who receive a Choice offer are automatically placed on the waitlists of eligible Choice programs they ranked higher than the offer they received.
- Students who do not receive a Choice offer are automatically placed on the waitlists of the programs on their application for which they are eligible.
- Choice waitlist order may also reflect program priority groups when applicable.
- Students may also add additional programs after the Rolling Waitlist opens.
-
Selective Enrollment Waitlists
-
-
- Students who receive a Selective Enrollment offer during initial selections are not automatically waitlisted for other Selective Enrollment programs.
- Eligible students who do not receive a Selective Enrollment offer are automatically waitlisted for the Selective Enrollment programs on their application for which they qualify.
- Selective Enrollment waitlists are ordered by students’ total admissions points and may change as additional eligible applicants join the waitlist.
- A student who receives a Selective Enrollment offer and later wants to pursue another Selective Enrollment waitlist must first decline the existing Selective Enrollment offer.
-
Receiving a Waitlist Offer
-
-
- CPS currently releases waitlist offers on Tuesday and Friday mornings when programs report available seats.
- Tuesday offers expire Thursday at 11:59 PM.
- Friday offers expire Monday at 11:59 PM.
- If an offer expires or is declined, the student must rejoin the waitlist to be considered for that program again.
- Families should log into GoCPS to review and respond to offers.
